Coil Spring Compressor

If you are looking to put together a workbench or garage that enables you to do a full range of repairs - for cars, bicycles and other vehicles - then you need a full range of tools.

There are many specialized tools around that are important to help you ensure that you can repair any problems with your car or bike. One of the ones that tends to get overlooked is the coil spring compressor.

This is no surprise, it is quite a specialized piece of equipment, and often people are more interested in generalist tools they can use on multiple aspects of the repair work. But that doesn't mean that the coil spring compressor isn't important. It has an important part to play in many repairs.

There are all sorts of coil spring suppressors in the market. They vary from compressors that are actually used to create coil springs, to smaller ones that are used to remove coil springs and, if necessary, work on them.

This is important because the coil springs need to maintain their tension in order to be useful (usually as shock absorbers, protecting items from damage, or as suspension to help keep your travel from being too bumpy).

The coil spring compressors clamp down on either end of the coiled springs, maintaining it's tension. This is important for a number of reasons.

1. Some coils will ruin when they have lost their tension, becoming useless. Because of this it is important that you maintain the tension of the coil springs, which is where the coil spring compressor comes in.
   
   
2. If you have to work on the coiled springs at all then you usually need to do so when they are under tension so you can see what the problems are and if you have solved them at all. Which means that you need the coiled spring compressor to keep it in a condition for you to work on.
   
   
3. Replacing coiled springs. If you want to remove a coil spring and replace it with another one, then it is essential that the tension on the new spring is maintained. Guess what you need for that? I'm sure you managed to work out that it is a coil spring compressor!
